School Improvement Coaching & Professional Development, Banks Road Elementary, Wake County Public Schools

Dates of Engagement: 2023-2025

Description of Services Provided:

We partnered with Wake County Public School System to create a comprehensive school improvement plan for a consistently low-performing school with a majority minority and high English Language Learner population. Through this project, we conducted a thorough performance data review along with actionable improvement strategies. From there, we restructured team meetings to create more collaborative professional development and student-level conversations on formative assessments. The modules covered topics such as needs assessment, goal setting, data reviews, and monitoring progress, with a strong emphasis on integrating scientifically-based reading research into daily learning.

Key Outcomes & Achievements:

Through this project, we helped school leaders create an actionable 3-year strategic literacy plan for each participating district. During the first year of implementation, the school had huge proficiency gains (over 10%) and came off the low-performing designated list. For this year, the school is looking at moving from a report card letter “C” to a “B” due to a school-wide framework of instructional practices. A follow-up survey indicated that 85% of participants felt better equipped to lead literacy initiatives in their classrooms.

Alignment with RFP Objectives:

This project showcases our expertise in delivering customized professional development focused on student growth, achievement, data literacy, and instructional pedagogy that align with this RFP’s anticipated outcomes.
